Where The Heck Is Epsom?

Different Auckland town centres have adopted Rugby teams from countries that qualified for the World Cup. I found out information about : The location in Auckland; Something special about this place; A 'potted' history of the place; If it has it's own symbol of some sort.(If we couldn't find a symbol we chose a picture that told more about the place).

Epsom is a suburb of Auckland. It is located approximately 3 kms south of Auckland city centre.
Epsom is named after a horse racing track and a town in England.
From 1840 - 1890 Epsom was as its rich pasture land, it is now the home of The Easter Show at the ASB Showgrounds.

Keep Your Eye On The Ball

We are using the nations of the 2011 Rugby World Cup as our inquiry path.

For this unit we are in one of four teams: Brumbies, Force, Rebels, Stormers. My team is Force
There will be a number of tasks for us to navigate to achieve our goal of an excellent result in this unit. There are a mixture of individual and team tasks to be completed. The main task that will show our learning in this unit will be a Hyperstudio presentation about one of the countries in the World Cup competition.
I'm looking forward to the all blacks games this year my favorite players are Zack Guilford and Cory Jane and i hope Dan Carter goes well with his kicking.

Rugby league for me

I like rugby league because its a challenging sport but its also when you can see superstar of the game. My favorite teams is the outstanding Melbourne Storm,i mostly like it when state of origins on and the Anzac test, this year it was warriors against my team the Storm, Queensland is my team for origin too.

My favorite players in the game is Jarryd Hayne,Chris Sandow,Greg Inglis,Billy the Kid Darius Boyd and Cooper Cronk. I think they have good hands good skills mean speed i wish i good be just like them.I also support the unleashed rubbling and firing Dragons

A kiwi inventor Glen Martin created a jet pack It was 12 million dollars to invent this jet pack
It can go over 5,000 feet above the water. He had 2 super powered fans on his jet pack, which helped him get air Borune.
You could rescue people with it and can go through tree trails, cliffs and between buildings.
From 2000 feet you can use a parachute making your way down.
A few years ago Glen Martin was getting mocked from other people but it was incredible, he continued working on the jet pack.
They had to test the jet pack with a dummy first,they didn’t know if it was safe but the second time they tried it with a person and it worked well.The us industry are showing interest i in him from making that fantastic jet pack. But then US military army said they were interested in buying the jet pack for 60,000 dollars
